A strong alliance: ISM and FT
A strong alliance: The ISM International School of Management (ISM) and the FRIEDRICHSBAD-TEAM GmbH
The FRIEDRICHSBAD-TEAM GmbH has stood for quality personnel and organizational development for nearly six decades. The company, which offers over 450 seminars, coachings and workshops per year for specialists and executives, will be renamed and operate under the new name of the ISM ACADEMY GmbH. The company headquarters will also be moved from Hattingen to the ISM Dortmund Campus. In addition to continuing to provide classic seminars, the merger with ISM will result in a significant expansion of university-accredited and extra-occupational study programs. The result is one of the region’s largest further education academies for business managers and experts with future headquarters in Dortmund.
This commitment furthers the aim of the International School of Management (ISM) of extending its reach within the education sector. During the past few years, the ISM has been continually expanding its offerings of vocational education programs in addition to its full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs in Dortmund, Frankfurt/Main, Munich and Hamburg. The provision of seminars, coachings and trainings for professionals adds yet another new business area to its educational portfolio. "We want to be as diversified as possible within the education sector in order to be well equipped for future tasks and challenges,“ explains ISM Vice President Prof. Dr. Ingo Böckenholt.
The current offer of the FRIEDRICHSBAD-TEAM GmbH of open seminars and trainings as well as inhouse training for experts and managers will remain unchanged. However, it will be supplemented by lecture events focused on contemporary business themes, target group specific certificate programs and extra-occupational study programs offered by the ISM. Existing agreements with clients and suppliers will, of course, remain valid and unchanged.
“The merger effectively pools our competencies and allows for the further expansion of our services,“ says Andreas Behre, Managing Director of the FRIEDRICHSBAD-TEAM GmbH.
As of September 2011, all media communications associated with the FRIEDRICHSBAD-TEAM GmbH will be redesigned with the new name and corporate design of the ISM ACADEMY. Existing services such as online seminar booking via the internet portal, e-books and print brochures as well as the entire further education offer will, of course, remain unchanged.
Background:
The ISM ACADEMY GmbH sees itself as a partner to companies for all their occupational training and further education needs. It offers more than 30,000 business clients a wide variety of qualification themes as well as inhouse solutions tailored for individual companies in the area of management and employee development. A team of about 200 experienced trainers and lecturers imparts substantiated knowledge and ensures that the knowledge gained by participants can be transferred into their daily business situations. The ISM Academy will also supplement classic qualification measures with personal development instruments such as assessment centers, employee surveys and managed training services as part of a complete outsourced solution for the organization and delivery of further education for a company.
The International School of Management (ISM) – with campuses in Dortmund, Frankfurt/Main, Munich and Hamburg – is a private, state-recognized University of Applied Sciences governed by a non-profit trusteeship. It offers future managers compact, application-oriented study programs that prepare them to meet the requirements of the international economy. All programs are characterized by internationality and a practical orientation. Working in small groups is as much a part of every day life at the ISM as are integrated semesters and modules abroad at one of over 140 partner universities. The latest independent university rankings rated ISM as being among the top universities in Germany.

How to find us
Directions to the ISM campus in Dortmund
By Car
The ISM Academy is situated close to the motorway intersection Dortmund West where the Sauerlandlinie A 45 (Frankfurt-Dortmund) crosses the Ruhrschnellweg B 1 / A 40. From here, the university is connected with the motorways leading to Unna, Bremen, Hannover/Berlin and Kassel. Coming from the direction of the Kamener Kreuz or Oberhausen, ISM Academy is within easy reach by using motorway A2. At the Westhofener Kreuz, the A 45 (Dortmund-Hanau/Frankfurt am Main) crosses the A 1, leading to Bremen and Cologne.
The best motorway exit you find on the A 45 is “Dortmund-Eichlinghofen” and on the B 1 / A 40 “Dortmund-Dorstfeld”.
By Train
From the main train station in Dortmund, the ISM Academy can be reached by using the suburban train number 1 and taking the exit “Dortmund Universität”. From here, bus number 462 leaves towards “Technologiepark”. The ISM Academy is located near the bus stop “Joseph-v.-Fraunhofer-Str.”. You may also choose to walk about 15 minutes uphill the Otto-Hahn-Str. By taking bus and/or train, the ISM Academy is also within easy reach from Bochum, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Duisburg. Moreover, during the semester there are additional suburban trains shuttling back and forth between Dortmund and Bochum.
By Plane
Dortmund has its own airport with several air connections within Central Europe, i.e. Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden, Katowice, Krakow, Leipzig, London, Munich, Nuremberg, Paris, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich. To get from the Dortmund airport to the ISM Academy campus, which are approximately 20 kilometers apart, you can use a shuttle bus to the main train station and then switch to the suburban train number 1 to “Dortmund Universität”. The Rhine-Ruhr-Airport in Dusseldorf, 60 kilometers away from Dortmund, offers additional international connections. From there, the suburban train S1 takes you as well to “Dortmund Universität”. Usually, however, it is faster to use the regional train ("Regional Express") to Dortmund main station and then take the suburban train since the regional train does not stop as often as the suburban trains do.
